Chandler A. Reid Memorial

Chandler A. Reid Memorial - Novetta and Kevin Reid established this scholarship in memory of their son, Chandler, an intelligent, multi-talented young man who aspired to help others through a career in medicine. In 2011, he was a perfectly healthy 21-year-old senior studying biology and chemistry at Mercer University when he was stricken with a myocardial virus that attacked his heart. Chandler fought the disease gallantly for 18 months, undergoing five open-heart surgeries, lung surgery and several other invasive procedures before succumbing to the virus on July 9, 2012. The scholarship is awarded annually to a junior majoring in chemistry preferably or biology with a minimum GPA or 3.50. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student is making satisfactory progress towards earning a bachelor's degree and maintains a minimum 3.50 GPA.
