Northside Defense Topples Jones County

GRAY -- Northside’s defense is pretty stingy, but the Eagles’ defenders are even tougher when they’re scoring points. The Eagles used two defensive touchdowns plus three more on the offensive side of the ball to defeat Jones County 35-0 on Friday.

Despite getting 147 yards on 24 carries from Undre Williams, the Greyhounds never could find the end zone, which is exactly what Northside head coach Kevin Kinsler wanted.

History lesson: Camden's 86-game region win streak is threatened

This is the first game for Camden in its new region. A state power in a notoriously weak region for over a decade, Camden County, the No. 1-ranked team in Class AAAAAA, has won 86 straight games that counted in region standings. That streak is endangered this week as Camden travels to Valdosta.

Eagles Enter Region Play

Quick Hits: DE Jones misses practice -

Georgia listed defensive end Abry Jones as out of Monday’s practice due to his sprained left ankle, but Jones was named a captain for Saturday’s game against Tennessee. The other captains: Marlon Brown, Jarvis Jones and Connor Norman.

…Offensive linemen Watts Dantzler (sprained ankle) and Hunter Long (foot) were was limited Monday.

…Georgia is a 13-point favorite in Saturday’s game against the Volunteers.

Maxwell Ratings: Northside still No. 1 among 412

Each week, AJC.com will publish the Maxwell Ratings to give fans a computerized look at how Georgia’s 412 football-playing teams rank in each class and in all classifications.

The Maxwell Ratings are based strictly on scores. As the season progresses, the rankings will rely more and more on this season’s results and less on previous seasons. By the playoffs, the rankings will reflect 2012 results entirely.
